Last weekend, volunteers from across the Second Council District came together for Shine LA, a campaign to beautify our neighborhoods and build community pride. Scout troops, UCLA students, Residents Associations and Neighborhood Council members all pitched in, removing hundreds of bags of litter and debris, from Fair Ave. and Sherman Way in Sun Valley, to Raymer Street and Bellaire Avenue in North Hollywood, and Laurel Canyon and Magnolia Boulevards in Valley Village. From tree planting to clean-ups, volunteers across the city are preparing LA to shine on the world stage. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the Valley Shine!
Shine LA is Mayor Bass’s initiative to mobilize volunteers to care for their neighborhood’s streets and sidewalks. This month’s program in District 2 coincided with the State’s Community Climate Acton Day, and with the annual Tom LaBonge Day of Service, led by the family of the late L.A. Councilmember. Special thanks to the Mayor, the Director of LA Civil Rights Capri Maddox and her team, and the family of the late L.A Councilmember Tom LaBonge, for getting people out on a misty Saturday morning!
