UNITED WE STAND and united we were in our first post-pandemic cleanup. The Sun Valley Area Neighborhood Council on September 25, 2021, after 18 months absent from our Sun Valley streets, came together once more to make Sun Valley a better place to call home. We could not have done it without the participation of our Assemblywoman Luz Rivas and her amazing team who had Caltrans come to help with the cleanup of the 5-freeway southbound Sunland offramp and Councilwoman Nury Martinez’s amazing team who provided all the tools. We also thank Northeast Graffiti Busters who painted the curbs and LAPD Foothill Division who kept us safe while we weed wacked the median at the 5 freeway Sunland offramp. A huge thanks for the contributions from some of our Sun Valley businesses who stepped up to help. Waste Management donated the mulch for a much-needed dirt patch. The neighbors are forever grateful having already planted their own plants taking pride to enhance the mulched area. Grocery Outlet provided fresh fruit, Gus Mobil Station and Service Center provided the water and Chiguacle Restaurant served an amazing lunch. Our largest thanks goes to all the volunteers, without them this project would have never been possible. We invite you to our next event at the Ratner location coming up on Saturday November 13, 2021. Please reach out to us and register as a volunteer. Let’s unite and make Sun Valley a better place to call HOME.
